Down to Earth Curriculum

Curated in 7 parts, the Down to Earth Curricu illuminates concepts of urban agriculture and articulates methods to pursue sustainable practices at a local level. Focusing on empowering readers through knowledge of urban farming, kitchen gardening, and herb and food plantation in a community-oriented and environmentally friendly manner, the curriculum covers basic methods and topics for beginners interested in starting a micro-farm. Additionally, it spells out the kind of foods that are best planted in such places, how to utilize them effectively through the available space, and methods of creating apparatus with easily sourced materials. The curriculum additionally provides tips and tricks on how to efficiently maintain the health of these crops in urban environments, especially through vermiculture practices.

Down To Earth Workshops: From April 2023 to May 2023, we collaborated with the New Delhi based NGO Hamari Pahchan to cover the topics discussed in the Down to Earth Curriculum in to young adults from marginalized communities over 4 workshop sessions. Through the workshops, we were able to disseminate information about best practices for urban food growing, and encourage students to take up small scale initiatives in the field for the benefit of their communities!

Further, in May 2023, we conducted an online fundraiser with the target amount of INR 101,836 for the students at Hamari Pahchan: https://milaap.org/fundraisers/support-underprivilged-people?deeplink_type=paytm
